What inspires you to work at OG?

What inspires me to work with OG, is my background. Having grown up in San Francisco, I've unfortunately witnessed many of my peers facing tragic fates, either ending up in jail or losing their lives. This grim reality persists today. I've been fortunate to have mentors who made a significant positive impact on my life. Their guidance allowed me to view the world from a different perspective and equipped me with the tools to become a successful individual.

Why do you believe in the work OG is doing?

I believe that if I can provide guidance and mentorship to the youth, I can serve as a positive role model amidst the pervasive negative influences they encounter daily.

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I share a deep connection with them because I've personally experienced the same hardships. I grew up in a neighborhood deeply impacted by the War on Drugs, where subsidized housing and government assistance were common. It was a community where many of my peers and even family members fell victim to senseless violence, leaving a lasting impact on me.

What inspires you to work at OG?

I’ve been doing mentorship work for the past 20 years and I am passionate about the importance of the work.

Why do you believe in the work OG is doing?

I believe in this program because I have seen how hands on we are with the children, we treat them like family.

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I believe that all youth are a reflection of the adults they see today so I try to role model the best person that I would want these kids to be. 

What inspires you to work at OG?

I am inspired by the way the organization cares for the entire city, not just specific neighborhoods.

Why do you believe in the work OG is doing?

I believe in the work because I have seen first hand how young lives are being positively impacted.

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I show them respect, understanding, consistency, and love. I keep it real with them at all times regardless of what they think the outcome should be.

What inspires you to work at OG?

I want to help youth from my community break generational cycles, barriers, and stereotypes that are put up against them.

Why do you believe in the work OG is doing?

I have seen how it can change lives and truly make a difference for the whole community.

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I came from the same community as them and I’ve seen the same things as them. I’ve walked in their shoes and they can tell that.

What inspires you to work at OG?

I am most inspired by seeing our programs results, to me results matter the most. I am also inspired by the people I work with and the chemistry and culture amongst the staff team.

Why do you believe in the work OG is doing?

I believe in the work because I believe in providing care, concern, and guidance for the youth, I have been involved in this type of work with youth for 35+ years, it is my purpose.

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I cater my approach to each unique kid's needs. 

What inspires you to work at OG?

I want to help these kids so that they don't make the same mistakes that I did.

Why do you believe in the work OG is doing?

Because, I know that it works!

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I grew up in the community so a lot of people know my name. I have lived a similar life to these kids so they know I understand them.

What inspires you to work at OG?

I was once a troubled teenager and all it took was for one person to believe in me and give me an opportunity. When I took it, I was able to change me life and I want to do that for others.

I have seen the positive impact they have on kids lives.

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I come from where they come from. As their mentor, I am trying to help them change the narrative to be more positive.

What inspires you to work at OG?

I want to help these kids learn to set goals and see them accomplish them.

Why do you believe in the work OG is doing?

I have seen firsthand corrections I have made in my own life working here and I have also seen the changes in the kids. We are all working on ourselves together.

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I treat all of the kids with respect. I take time to get to know each of them and build personal relationships.

What inspires you to work at OG?

What inspires me to help with the youth is keeping them out of the streets and giving them examples of how to do better from first hand experience.

I believe in the work OG is doing because I have seen how much we have accomplished in the community already.

How do you relate to the young people you work with and mentor?

I relate to the young people because I have lived in their shoes so I come at them how I would have wanted someone to come at me and offer support.

I want to help young people achieve their life goals.

Why do you believe in the work OG is doing?

Because it's real people, doing real work, with the community.

I relate by showing them respect and love.
